horse stampedeWe’re usually not eager to get roped into the numbers/awards stampede but when a group of professionally trained, knowledgeable wine tasters tell us they love our wine and want to give us high honors, well, that’s a horse of a different color!

* The 2009 Sommelier Challenge  just awarded the 2003 Tom Eddy Napa Valley Cabernet and the 2004 Tom Eddy Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet two Gold Medals.

And while we’re at it:

* The Long Beach Grand Cru Internationl Wine Competition awarded the 2007 TENZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Chairman’s Best of Class.

Eleven well-respected Sommeliers were this year’s judges at the 2009 Sommelier Challenge in San Diego, CA. Judges tasted all wines blind, but could ask for information about place of origin or grape varieties included in a blend. Producer, price and vintage are not disclosed until the close of the competition. Awards are announced at www.sommelierchallenge.com and by regular mail.
